NASA and Boeing have further extended the stay of the Starliner spacecraft at the International Space Station as engineers continue to investigate technical issues involving the ship's thrusters and helium systems. Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who arrived at the station in early June, remain in orbit while ground teams conduct simulations at the White Sands Test Facility to better understand thruster degradation observed during docking. NASA officials have emphasized that the crew is safe and the spacecraft is capable of returning in the event of an emergency, though they prefer to gather more data before committing to a landing date. While some industry analysts have highlighted the delays as a setback for Boeing’s commercial crew program, the company maintains that the extended duration allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of the vehicle's performance. A final timeline for reentry is expected following the conclusion of the current testing phase.
